Japanese artist vug creates art by combining painting, collage, tattoos, fashion, and a variety of elements and techniques, translating everyday life into unique visuals with a menagerie of elements. vug’s creation reflects his meticulous observation of nature and his love for animals. Through the stylized design, he projects himself into the cute creatures with a pair of vivid eyes in his paintings, exploring the world of simple lines and colorful colors. The world where these creatures exist lends a glimpse into the artist’s unique worldview.

vug’s works capture life’s precious moments and are infused with the power of innocence and kindness. Through the intricate images, we can see our city from the perspective and eye of the artist, which is a far cry from people’s perception of the city.

 

His solo exhibition, “Eye to Eye”, is a form of gaze, which is not only an interaction between the viewers and the artist but also a conversation between the viewers and the exhibition. The works in the exhibition space are no longer in silent existence; Instead, they are reflections of the viewer’s experience and ideas. The physical action of eye gazing creates spiritual eye contact between the viewers and the artist. People’s eyes can tell the story of their life, and reveal their temperament and inner world. A quiet gaze may lead to a knowing smile and tacit understanding.

 

“Eye to eye” is an interesting interaction that breaks down language barriers and reveals many subliminal messages and emotions.

“Artist-in-TARTCH” (AIT) is an innovative and interactive Artist-in-Residence project where artists can experience different cultures and environments by living and traveling in different locations. Here,  TARTCH serves as an intermediary between exhibitions and viewers. The solo exhibition “Eye to Eye” features both the artist’s graphic works and his large-scale and dimensional murals with creatures jumping out of the canvas. The artist presents a creative flow of visual elements in the exhibition space with an ingenious arrangement and composition that is integrated into TARTCH’s unique space design, creating lively and inspiring eye-to-eye interaction in the space. The exhibition also replicates the artist’s work space on site, leaving traces of the artist’s creation during his residency to inspire the imagination of the viewers.
